Granola Bars

Does your nearest supermarket have that tricky “healthy food” department? I remember the moment when I first realized that some products there are very  far from being a better option...

I was especially confused and disappointed about granola bars. I had always considered them a healthy snack. But apparently most of factory-made ones aren’t really. Way too much sugar, too much cheap fat, too many unreadable ingredients…

So the dilemma was: I loved granola bars. And I wanted to make healthier choices. Simplest solution – make them myself. Takes only 10 minutes preparation time + a little bit of baking/dehydrating

INGREDIENTS:
100g almonds
100g cashews
100g coconut flakes
100ml maple syrup
3 tsp water
Pinch of salt

TO DO:
Preheat the oven to 150 degrees. For raw version – put dehydrator on 40 degrees
Put nuts and coconut flakes in food processor. Process lightly – pieces should still be pretty big
Add maple syrup, salt and water to the nuts. Mix well by hand
Line a form with parchment paper
Press the mixture firmly into the form
Bake for 20 minutes. For raw version – dehydrate overnight
Let bars cool down, then take them out of the form and cut

Ta dam! Done!
